This site is built to be used by everyone
We conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA and the Americans with Disabilities Act, and we keep testing against that standard.
Accessibility is part of the build, not an add-on
Business Consulting Council is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.
Conformance status. The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. This website aims to conform with WCAG 2.1 Level AA, and is designed to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.
Assessment approach. We evaluate accessibility through a combination of automated testing, manual keyboard-only testing, and review against the WCAG 2.1 success criteria as part of every change we ship.
Limitations. Despite our best efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible — in particular, third-party content such as the embedded map is outside our direct control. Where that is the case, we provide the same information in an accessible form elsewhere on the page.
Six areas we test against
Accessibility toolbar
A persistent widget offers text scaling, contrast modes, readable and dyslexia-friendly fonts, a reading guide, link highlighting, a large cursor and animation pausing. Choices are remembered on your device.
Screen reader support
Semantic landmarks, descriptive alt text, ARIA labels on all controls, and a skip-to-content link as the first focusable element on every page.
Keyboard navigation
Every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator. Dialogs trap focus and close on Escape. Press Alt + A to open the accessibility toolbar.
Colour and contrast
Body text and interface elements meet or exceed the 4.5:1 contrast ratio required at Level AA, and no information is conveyed by colour alone.
Motion and animation
All motion respects the operating-system "reduce motion" preference, and the carousel pauses on hover, on focus and when scrolled out of view.
Responsive and zoomable
Content reflows without horizontal scrolling down to 320 pixels wide and remains usable at 200% browser zoom.
